Scarlett Johansson was born on November 22, 1984, at New York City New York. She is an American actor and singer whose talents have earned her recognition in a variety of types of films ranging from thrillers and adventure films to period dramas. Johansson is the daughter of an architect and producer, was born in New York City. Hunter, her twin sister, was also born in New York City. As a young girl of just 7 an old, the actress started casting for commercials on television. After a short time, she began studying in the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute. Then, in the following years, the Professional Children's School was opened in Manhattan. In the Off Broadway play Sophistry she co-starred with Ethan Hawke. She then made her first film appearance with North (1994), produced by Rob Reiner, at age nine. Johansson played the lead role in Just Cause (1995), prior to her breakthrough with Manny & Lo - a story about two sisters, orphans that escape. The Horse Whisperer (1998) Johansson, who plays a teenaged girl with disfigurement, was hailed by the critics. Later she became known as cynical teenager Rebecca in Ghost World. Renee Felice Smith started her career in entertainment from a very young age. While she was still a young child, Smith became interested in acting. Smith was offered her first gig as an actor at age six with the help of her parents. She starred in a TV commercial for Dannon yogurt. As with most actresses beginning to get their feet wet, she would work on her abilities in the theatre. When she performed her stage debut with Wildflower she would also work in various projects throughout the USA. She studied at in the Stonestreet Studios Conservatory, part of the New York University Tisch School of the Arts.
